As a special education teacher for 10 years, Charlene taught students with various disability labels in self-contained and resource settings. Teaching in a pilot inclusive education program changed everything for Charlene. Unable to find a job in inclusive education in Texas, she became a staff development consultant and advocate for inclusive schools, spending many years as an employee and consultant with The Arc of Texas.

After moving back to her native Louisiana, Charlene founded I.D.E.A. Works! an education consulting business, and then was honored to direct the Mississippi Parent Training and Information Center, from November 2006 to February 2008. Now, as Coordinator of Training and Development for Families Helping Families of Jefferson, Charlene continues activities in which she has been long engaged – providing training and consultation on special education issues to families, parent organizations and school districts. Charlene looks forward to working with you…she sees each new event as another step along the path to inclusion for everyone!
